Menu Monday

So, I'm starting to menu plan. I've been doing it for a few weeks now and let me tell you it is the most amazing change to my routine!
I don't know how or why I never did it before, it really is essential for a working mom. And it helps so much with the budget. Every week I just set down and look at the sale flyers, then I look through my recipes and match them up accordingly. One day is super easy, a given...salads. And I don't plan the weekends because we usually end up going out one day a week and so the extra meal gets moved to Saturday.
So it has helped tremendously with budget, food waste and avoiding restraunts (which blows budget and diet :)
Recently, I decided I would go through my old cookbook magazines and pick at least 2 new recipes week. This has been good, getting new ideas. After you've been married awhile you tend to do alot of repeats.

Monday: Chicken fajitas
Tuesday: Greek Salad
Wednesday: Roast Beef
Thursday: Tilapia, couscous and veggies
Friday: Left overs cause we're going out of town!!

  1. What a great idea with the 2 new recipes per week. I sort of meal planned while I was at the grocery store the other day. I ended up not spending as much money as I usually do.

  2. That is a great idea. I don't think about it until about 5 PM

  3. I know, I was in a major "cooking funk" as I was making the same thing...over and over. My hubby never complains but I could tell he knew I was stressed EVERY dinner time. Life is SOOOO much easier now!

  4. love your blog! Visiting from UBP. I can probably get some great cooking ideas from you!

  5. Your blog header takes my breath away....Amazing...Adorable...

This is such a fun party and I have already met some of the greatest bloggers... I am amazed at all the different and creative blogs. Stop by for a visit...just leave a comment on any of the last few posts on either blog and you are eligible for the GRAND PRIZE $100 GIFT BASKET!

  6. Thanks for visiting my blog the other day! I love your pictures!

I started menu-planning this year, as well, and I have wasted a lot less food. I like knowing what I'm going to make for the week and not having to scrounge around at the last minute. Well, enjoy the rest of UBP!
